Yeah this winter is getting to be very depressing, me and the kiddo usually have built a couple of Quinze's by now but we finally got enough snow yesterday to build a very small snowman.....even the small walking trails in town are really little more than muddy paths still....I'd love to get a real snowfall and get out there for a fire and a mugga something....

Oh I wanted to build a backyard quinzee this year, but no snow.  We've been in the house for 6 years, but the backyard hasn't been usable to us because of renovation$ delay$.

This Winter has been great for lake ice conditions. No slush on the lakes, easy to get around on the trails. The local road commission has saved money on snow removal. I hope the put the money saved toward fixing the pot holes in the spring. LOL

Lost. One mind. Reward if found.

Looks like there's more snow on the way this week for those of us in Southern Ontario.

Maybe enough to get a chance at real winter camping the first week of March?

Here's hoping. Thumbs Up

I went x-country today - first time all winter, usually by this time I'm sick of the snow - however it was nice to get out and glide for a change

calling for lots more this weekend -its going to be interesting to see if it sticks, today the snow was wet and really a bit too mushy - I need a bit colder to get some traction

Did our fifteenth or twentieth xc ski last weekend. This was a hut to hut overnight.
Before griping, think of the alternative. I have two paddling friends with stage 4 breast cancer.

Not being here is a potential reality for them. They are not whining.

Sorry for your friends, I guess this winter really sucks for them.  Perhaps a little Bing will help?
When I'm worried and I can't sleep
I count my blessings instead of sheep
And I fall asleep counting my blessings
When my bankroll is getting small
I think of when I had none at all
And I fall asleep counting my blessings

I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads
And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
If you're worried and you can't sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
And you'll fall asleep counting your blessings

Its just a weather thread and a canadian pasttime is to gripe about it.  So, we reserve all rights now and in the future to whine.
 LOL

Skiing is fun, skiing close to home I enjoy more than anything - its quick, easy and really a nice change from walking in muck, which is what I get when it all melts.

Sorry bout your friends -

I think  I am changing the name of my house to Waterwalker.

Its a POND out there.

(we are on the rain side of this thing). Not talking of the lake..that's hard still but how long can the ice last with fifteen cm of water on the top?

Only x-country skied 5 times this season... usually every w/e. I had to just go to Chicopee Ski hill to practice the turns just to believe I still ski. Last year was a miracle for this region, so I guess we winterites pay for it this year.

Michigan DNR didn't have the funds this year to maintain some the free x-country ski trails. But that was OK. The trails were great since it didn't snow much after Christmas this year. I got in more x-country skiing this year than any other year.
