Wow...broke out the dehydrator yesterday to start prepping some snacks and meals for the upcoming season (Hopin for an early to mid April trip to start the canoeing year). So yesterday 14 apples got sliced, soaked in Lime juice and dehydrated. Today I pulled out the vaccuum sealer so I could package them up into single serve snacks and when I went to the fridge I found.....about ten slices left....the equivelent of one large apple...seems better half and lil camper found them while I was at work and thought I was so sweet for eavin such a tasty treat for them.............so I guess its back to the grocery store for more apples!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did some jerky on Sunday and Madison kept asking for samples.  I made 4 packages, sealed them up and threw them in the freezer. I hope no one finds them because I am hoping to do the La Cloche Silhouette trail in Killarney the first week of May.

Thanks for the reminder.  It's time to start prepping meals for the pending season!

I'm lucky.  My Mrs wouldn't even think of eating my camping food.  Not at all interested in any of it.

Rekindling an old thread.

Seeing as I'm not going to be able to take any real time off for a trip this year, I haven't had my dehydrator out.

But I know it will see some serious action come garden harvest time.

Anyone dehydrating or has dehydrated something for a trip this year?

Och!  I've done a lot this year.  Chili, spag sauce, a veg tagine, stuffs for buritos.  Amazes me that my home dehydration still makes lighter and more compact meals than the store-bought ones.

My sweetie just finished lots of great fruit leathers and a load of hardy oatmeal/almond energy bars. Turkey, brown rice, carrots and hummus are in the dehydrator, right now.
