Lost. One mind. Reward if found.

I'm not all that much into fishing but I always try to take up a pole and put a lure in the water and troll when paddling. You never know if you'll get a good fish for dinner or not. And there's nothing better than leaving the dehydrated meal in the barrel and enjoying a nice fresh fish dinner.

Anyone else just troll when paddling or do you just leave the fishing gear at home?

Normally I do not fish, I canoe in Temagami and Temagami means Deep Water. So unless you are close to shore or trying to fish for Lake Trout then forget it. But this summer I am going to Chiniguchi area and will bring along my rod. The trip will be very leisurely so I would have time to fish on some days.

You just know what I'm gonna say...
I can't even imagine going on a canoe trip and not fishing, but that's just me.

I sometimes troll while paddling. But mostly relax after a day of paddling by casting. Often lucky enough to catch fresh fish for an appetizer. The fishing gear comes on all our trips.

I always fish ,but I seldom catch.

I caught a nice trout on my last trip and decided for the first time in 40 years to keep it.
I cleaned ,cooked and ate it.

It was.....ok?

It will be years before I do it again.
My camp smelled of fish for 2 days and the bears were just starting their spring prowl.

I will stick to catch and release ...and pepperettes

Good fish to me is a MCD's fishwich
Lots of goop on it to kill the taste.

I hardly ever fish. I hardly ever even take the gear to fish. I'd rather spend my money on some smoked fish, as opposed to getting a fishing license. Buying the smoked fish is a sure thing. The fishing license is a gamble.

I do spend a lot of time fussing and fiddling with cameras. WHy would you be hunting for fish when you can hunt for the perfect camera angles?

Sooo.. are you moving up north canoehead? I'm trying to get further north.. but can't sell my house. Sometimes life just sucks.

Oh yes.  Always pack a rod.  Very few exceptions, when the destination doesn't have anything in season.

Solo I will sometimes troll my way from portage to portage.  Tandem not so much as it messes with my paddling partner.

Since I dislocated my shoulder some years ago, I do less casting now.  After a few casts it starts to creak.  Short flips to structure are fine.  Otherwise it's 90% trolling, which means I see more of the lake anyway.

Catching is a different matter and not to be confused with fishing.  Some folks fish to catch, my brother is one.  I fish to fish.  It's a contemplative act for me.

I do like to fish but I have short attention span for it.  I prefer to watch people fish & help with the fish.

Your photos make me have spring fever!  Good pics!
