Interesting Thoughts
Anyone who says they like portaging is either a liar or crazy.

Bill Mason (1929-1988)
When all the trees have been cut down,

when all the animals have been hunted,

when all the waters are polluted,

when all the air is unsafe to breathe,

only then will you discover you can not eat money.

Cree Prophecy
Travel a thousand miles by train and you are a brute.

Pedal five hundred on a bicycle and you remain basically a bourgeois.

Paddle a hundred in a canoe and you are already a child of nature.

P.E.Trudeau (1919-2000)

Maple Mountain Loop 2003

2003 was the year myself and three other friends traveled The Maple Mountain Loop as shown in Hap Wilson's book "Temagami Canoe Routes". This book is an must read for anyone wishing to ply their canoe in this majestic area.

The trip time was a week and the length was about 100kms. It could be done in less time, but we didn't rush. We spent one layover day on Mendelsohn Lake making lasagna and baking up muffins in a relector oven.

This short slide show video shows the trip as we progessed. Hope you enjoy it.
